On this day in 1970, Jim Morrison was sentenced in Miami for imaginary crimes against society. Oh Florida, so much to answer for.
To start the morning Judge Murray Goodman delivered what he deemed the necessary moral lecture to Morrison about the consequences of his actions, and then he lowered the boom. Jim Morrison was sentenced to the maximum; a total of eight months of hard labor for both convictions, plus a five hundred dollar fine. The sentences would run concurrently so Morrison would only have to spend two months in prison with the rest of the time to be considered probation. Morrison’s attorney Max Fink made a plea for mercy but that was rejected by the court. Fink informed the court an appeal had already been filed and asked that Jim Morrison remain free pending the outcome of the appeal; that motion was granted on the condition that the fifty thousand dollar bond that was posted upon his conviction be held over. That was agreed to and Jim Morrison was able to walk out of a court a free man, pending the appeal.

Pointless trivia: "Dade County Public Safety Dept" that appears in Jim's mug shot is the former name of the Miami-Dade Police Dept.

Shelby, but it is required by The Examiner to credit the source, in this case it is public record of Miami Dade County P.D.

Very fresh find by the formidable Jim Cherry today, and interview with a photog who worked on the L.A. Woman images: http://www.examiner....l-a-woman-album

Interesting interview by Michael Aushenker, but I wonder why he didn't ask about the controversial image of the crucified woman? Wasn't it even removed from later (vinyl) editions of the album? I bought L.A. Woman in the 80s and I seem to remember its inner sleeve was clear. Perhaps there were other reasons for that.

I've always been quite glad the image isn't on mine - also bought in the 80s. Maybe Wendell Hamick didn't want to talk about it.

I can really imagine Jim saying 'I don't believe in luck'.

Oh wow this was in the collection of Graham Nash. "The impressions are seeing me. Are there images that I need to complete my own reality."
