The Doors in Lowell, Massachusetts

My aunt told me she saw The Doors live in Lowell,
Massachusetts which I thought she was wrong, the closest I thought
they had appeared was at the Hampton Casino in NH. Then last week,
another person told me she saw them there telling me that she was
among other teen girls waiting for JIm to come out the back door only
to see him being dragged/carried out by two men with the toes of his
boots scraping the ground . . . then the biography of Jack Kerouac by
Elis Amburn reports that Jim attempted to visit Jack in Lowell but was
turned away by Kerouac's wife who told him to get a haircut first, an
anecdote listed without a source. What gives? None of the books I
checked indicate any shows in Lowell at anytime of their career. Note:
Kerouac was living in Lowell around 1968.
This guy has a web page where it says he played as an "opening act" in this Lowell club at a time when people like The Doors, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix others regularly stopped there.

Its certain that The Doors did indeed play places we are not aware of from the information we have at hand.
Especially in their earliest days before the full glare of publicity was upon them.
The band themselves cannot even remember every date they did and I have no doubt that there are a good number undocumented.
Be nice to collect all the information from the fans themselves and add to the data base but I doubt that will happen unless someone like Greg can follow up on the leads and as anyone who visited here and said they saw a Doors gig in such and such a place would just get called a liar here by the Thought Police if it was not in Shaws book its hardly an incentive to try to add to general Doors knowledge.
Its a shame as I like most here would really like to know every date and every song sung at those dates.

But no Lowell
Beg to differ Tarn, I maybe wrong BUT I understood they did play Lowell......... as well as my old hang out, "The Surf" at Nantasket Beach in Hull. I'd met a fellow while shopping for music a few months back who had seen them at "The Cross Town Bus Club" in Brighton. He said Jim was really drunk but the group put on a hell of a show. The post Jim show on the Common drew over 11,000 people! :peace:

It is a very small place, very old theater like inside (15+ years ago anyway). They also had a full bar and were very quick with the drinks...

I dont think they performed in Lowell, but ive heard that Jim shot through there for a Kerouac convention when he was in the area.
Incidentally, every1 around here seems to tell me that eveytime the Doors performed in Boston Jim was drunker than usual.

"July 5, 1967 - Lowell High School Auditorium La Habra, CA"
According to this site, from the gigography page:
That's California, not Massachusetts. :shades:
Well you right...
Anyway this is the closet thing that i've found about Lowell.

I've been to Kerouac's grave in Lowell. Lowell is not the same city Kerouac grew up in.
And the end is always near.
