Hmm...These pics seem to be the same, it's just "flipped". The other one is in better quality though.

So, I bought those New Orleans pix. The guy sent me 3 or 4 other ones of Jim, along with the 2 showing in this thread. I doubt the other ones have ever been seen before. I for one have never seen them. I'm not saying they're great, but any pix of Jim I've never seen before are always a cool thing. Once again, I'm under orders not to scan or show them. Oh well. And he sent me a pic of Robbie also that I've never seen. The guy sent a page of his mother's recollections of the concert that night, different than anything we've ever heard before, I think. (His mom took the pix from the front row and has since died a few years back....). She said The Doors were really good that night, and Morrison sang great! To quote: "His voice was overpowering in a great way". Cool, huh?! Nothing said about it being a short show. She also got up on stage with Jim for a bit. But she didn't expect the beard. Anyway, it's always fun to hear "new" things about our boys!---

Thanks for the info! Too bad we can't see the pictures. Is there an actual law saying that you can't even show them (take a picture of the pictures)? I wonder if the bootleg of the show will ever be released, I've heard that there is a soundboard recording. Maybe it would destroy Ray's mythical story of what happened that night and so it will never see the light of the day ;)

Yeah, this seems to be the first new info on that show. I think that's kind of exciting. It's 2nd hand of course, from the son of the woman who was there in the front row. She took the pix. So it seems credible.
Any of you guys think it would be cool to have the following item? (I MAY have a chance at getting it, and it's been locked away for 40 years!) It's the remnants of the mike stand that Jim used to bash the stage floor to pieces at the end of the New Orleans show! The final show he ever did. That mike stand has a big place in Doors folklore. If I play my cards right, it may soon be mine!

Cool! I still want to see the naked pic of Jim but I am a perve! LMHAO I wonder what is in the place of that building now or if it is still up. I am only two hours away and would love to go check it out. I think things like that are pretty cool! I am also not far from Joplin's home town and want to go check that out too.

This was one of the last concerts? I think Ray or John said in their book that the place was down by the docks and really seedy. The floor was old, rotted wood and the band members knew that this would be one of the last concerts because Jim just didn't have it and he took the mike stand and bashed it thru the floor. Not sure if they even completed a full set.

heres a really good article written on the venue (location included) in a excellent longtime new orleans publication. Check out the video that goes w/ it, it was well done & provides some good insight into really how important of a music stop it was in the south. It also mentions the doors... I myself saw alice cooper there & also peter tosh...

also you may already know this, but an audio tape of the new orleans show does exsist. below also are some article links from the same site wh/ explain. Also 2 visual ad posters from the show (the first one, use link, ive never seen before) --->>>

Thank you!! Fascinating stuff.

"At sometime along the way, I spoke with a gentleman named Sugarman, who represented himself to be a manager of the Doors, about the tape. Mr. Sugarman said that the keyboard player had only a curiosity interest in that night's rendition of 'Riders on the Storm' (if I have that song's name right), but had no real interest in acquiring the tape, Jim Morrison's last performance notwithstanding."

I wonder if anyone bought that tape from Mr. Friedman. I sure would like to hear it.

That mic stand will pose some interesting authentication issues. Caveat Emptor!!

Robby mentioned the gold mic used on smothers brother touch me/wild child in the DVD commentary. Some fan tried to get the band to authenticate it and got nowhere.

Why keep a broken mic stand for 8 months so Jim would die then keep if for another 4 decades?

Very cool photos and interesting article about the show. I have heard accounts over the years of the show being quite good. I assume the Doors themselves saw something in Jim, being close to him as they were, that the audience perhaps just didn't. After all, they had travelled the road with him for years watching him perform in a variety of mind states and may simply have felt he was done with live performance. It may not have been as visually dramatic to those in attendance as Ray would have us believe. If that show does exist, it is the absolute Holy Grail of Doors shows and should be acquired and shared. I'd love to hear it as would most, if not all, of us here...

Dallas/NO were the only shows the full band did after a couple shows in June and a couple shows in August. It was an experiment to with Jim promising to shape-up.

The experiment didn't encourage anyone to perform again with Jim and he soon decided to travel abroad.
