Audio extract(1:21 minutes) of "Strange Days" song in London Fog 1966(of the new The Doors iPad. Thanks John Silence of French web "crystal-ship.com"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDTgUyKMG_A

Coming this Fall, count on it.

You think so? I wonder. They already casually slipped the gem of the mere 7 song set into an iPad app. That leaves 6 songs, 5 of which are covers. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, but one would think that The Doors would want to save the only live version of Strange Days for the actual London Fog release to boost sales.

Ok, I keep looking through the Ipad app with no luck. Where is the Strange Days track tucked away?

I think this is before Ray had a keyboard bass. Am I right or wrong, you experts?

So, with the announcement of The Doors: R-Evolution for the holiday season, and not a peep regarding anything else, it appears that another year will come and go without The London Fog or The Matrix masters being released. There have been a bunch of announcements from other artists regarding releases for the holiday season. The Beatles recently announced On Air: Live at the BBC Vol. 2. It seems that if The Doors intended for either The London Fog or The Matrix to be released this year, they would have announced them by now.

I dunno know.. I think Doors fans appreciate every morsel we can get; some bands are in it for the "Money Machine" clickin' ahead...Sit tight Long Island, the wait is worth the wait.

I'm with Encuentro, a bit disappointed there's still no date for The London Fog or The Matrix masters being released.Posted Image

I'm still waiting for a nice cd or 2 of outtakes, but I don't think that will ever happen now.... I really wanted those L.A. Woman outtakes, but that may not happen either. Pity-

Yes, I'm afraid that ship has sailed.

Yep. I think that they've abandoned archival releases and are focusing on re-releasing material that will appeal to a mass audience. We haven't had a show released since Vancouver, not counting Hollywood Bowl which was a re-release. Why spend money to acquire the Matrix masters and The London Fog only to let them languish in the vaults? They've had the Matrix masters for nearly 5 years. What are they waiting for?

I haven't checked in here in quite a while. Does anyone know what the deal is with the BMA live show releases? It was great for a few years but seems to be dead now. Going to be very disappointing if this show never gets released.

I think it's probable that the market is not strong enough to support these "collector" releases. I buy them and you all do, however if they don't generate more mainstream interest, I expect there is little motivation to get them released or available. We have all seen and heard the hype to generate more interest ("Year of he Doors" etc), but in the end, the hype fizzled out and die-hard fans were left scratching our heads about all the titles we were told were still coming. I suppose "Best of" Cd's, T-shirts and coffee mugs help keep the Doors "brand" out there, but it doesn't really do much to keep the music relevant and interesting.

The live recordings and studio extras keep the fans excited and the music (and band) interesting. It's unfortunate these archive releases - of new and interesting performances - have ground to a halt or are being shelved. I think that's a shame because if properly handled and promoted, I think it has the potential to be quite successful...
